📰 Portrait – Anthony Gomes, the heart and soul of CPH La Grande Boutique du Vin
Arriving in France in 2007, Anthony Gomes began his journey in the Champagne region by enrolling in a wine-growing high school. As part of his apprenticeship, he worked at CPH La Grande Boutique du Vin , where he discovered the demands of the wine merchant profession and developed a deep passion for wine. Despite the challenges of learning French, he earned his diploma with determination.
Building on this training, he continued his rise by joining a renowned restaurant in Paris as a sommelier. This experience allowed him to refine his palate, perfect his sense of service, and engage with a demanding clientele.
In 2013, driven by a desire to reconnect with the Champagne region and his professional roots, he returned to the Châlons-en-Champagne area and rejoined CPH La Grande Boutique du Vin. At the time, the shop already enjoyed a solid reputation built by its founders. When they announced their retirement, Anthony seized the opportunity to take over the establishment in 2020 , with the ambition of perpetuating its legacy while injecting new energy into it.
Under his leadership, CPH La Grande Boutique du Vin has significantly expanded its offerings, now featuring over 500 grower champagnes , as well as a wide selection of still wines and spirits. Anthony prioritizes direct relationships with producers and relies on rigorous tastings to provide his customers with an authentic and personalized experience.
In 2025 , he took another step forward by launching CPHWINES , a brand identity designed to expand his selection nationwide. Through this online wine shop, he aims to showcase his expertise throughout France, while remaining true to his values: high standards, close relationships, respect for winemakers, and a love of the terroir .
