Bertrand-Delespierre - Villedommange 2018
51,11 € 68,15 € / 1 lDescription
A singular and deeply terroir-driven champagne from Bertrand-Delespierre, a single varietal 100% Meunier from the magnificent village of Villedommange, a Premier Cru renowned for the excellence of this grape variety. The name celebrates this terroir where the vines express their full generosity.
The plot, planted in 1986 and 1991, benefits from a distinctive geology: a very fine sandy-silty soil, a north/north-west exposure that preserves freshness and natural acidity. Viticulture favors spontaneous grass cover and mechanical plowing – an approach that respects the soil and living organisms. The 2018 harvest, a classic and elegant vintage, reveals the full richness of Meunier as a single varietal.
Vinification is based on a purist philosophy: 100% cuvée to preserve delicacy and minerality. No malolactic fermentation – a bold choice that maintains the wine's natural acidity, its vibrancy, and its characteristic freshness. Aged in stainless steel tanks, this approach favors the direct expression of fruit and terroir. Unfined, unfiltered, this champagne remains authentic and vibrant. Disgorged in May 2024, with a measured dosage of 2 grams in "Extra Brut", it allows the minerality of the sandy-silty soil to fully express itself.
Ultra-confidential production of 2238 bottles. With 12.5° alcohol, it is a rare Meunier champagne – a demonstration of what this often-misunderstood grape variety can express when the producer prioritizes purity, terroir, and authenticity. A true ode to Villedommange and the hidden nobility of Meunier.
