Gaspard Brochet - The Rooster

Description

Le Coq is a blend of two exceptional Premier Cru terroirs, Écueil and Sacy, crafted by Gaspard Brochet of Domaine Les Croix. Its emblem, the stylized Gallic rooster, perfectly symbolizes the pride and authenticity of Champagne that this passionate winemaker represents. This 100% Pinot Noir blend from these two neighboring communes, with their nuanced geological characteristics, creates a remarkable harmony where each terroir contributes its particular signature.

Écueil and Sacy, these "Premier Crus" often overshadowed by neighboring Grand Crus, nonetheless possess undeniable qualities. The sandy soils found there impart a particular lightness and elegance, a delicate balance between richness and finesse. The gravity-fed winemaking in small oak barrels, followed by cellaring and aging in foudre, unfined, unfiltered, undrained, and un-topped-up, strictly adheres to the winemaker's philosophy: allowing the wine to express itself naturally, without superfluous chemical intervention.

The result is a Champagne of great finesse and complexity. The Pinot Noir color takes on deep ruby nuances. The Extra Brut reveals a lively and balanced palate, where delicate red fruits converse with crystalline minerality. Notes of earth and undergrowth add a meditative dimension to this Champagne, which is best savored with calm and attention. Le Coq is the serene expression of what makes the beauty of the Champagne terroirs: the alliance between tradition, respect for the product, and creative audacity.
