Gaspard Brochet - The Fox
Prix non communiqué — nous contacterDescription
Le Renard is a vintage Pinot Noir from a historic plot planted in 1959 within the "Les Croix" climat in Écueil, a renowned Premier Cru. Its fox emblem symbolizes the cunning finesse, the hidden intelligence that a terroir worked with discretion and respect can offer. This plot has a very particular soil, composed of compact brown sand, a rare pedology in Champagne that gives a distinctive signature to the wines produced from it.
Gaspard Brochet treats this plot like a meticulously tended garden, patiently waiting for the vines to express their maximum potential. The roots, penetrating deep into this compact brown sand, extract a singular minerality and remarkable liveliness. Gravitational vinification in small oak barrels, unfined, undisgorged, unfiltered, and with no topping up, follows the estate's philosophy: allowing the wine to breathe and develop naturally under partial veil.
On the palate, Le Renard reveals the quiet strength of this exceptional terroir. The deep color of the Pinot Noir with garnet nuances speaks of harmonious aging. The aromas revolve around delicate red fruits, fine spicy notes, beautiful chalky minerality, and subtle animal nuances that attest to the aging. The Extra Brut highlights the wine's natural freshness, allowing for a beautiful persistence on the palate. It is a champagne of patience and meditation, to be savored slowly, which gradually opens up to reveal all the subtleties of this original terroir and these respectable vines.
