Stéphane Regnault - LYDIAN No. 119 2020

59,50 € 79,33 € / 1 l

Description

An intimate and profoundly mineral vintage signed by Stéphane Regnault, from a unique plot of Chemin de Flavigny in Oger, Grand Cru. Made from 100% Chardonnay, this single varietal reveals the purity and complexity of the Oger south terroir.

The plot itself tells the geological story of this mythical place: south-facing, with a gentle 6% slope, it benefits from maximum sun exposure. Its very light superficial soil, its intermediate horizon with little chalk, and especially its slightly fractured compact chalk subsoil – this is the mineral signature that shapes this champagne.

The 2020 harvest underwent a decidedly non-interventionist vinification: spontaneous fermentation and complete malolactic fermentation. 75% of the wine fermented in barrels, bringing richness, woody complexity, and remarkable roundness. Complemented by 25% of perpetual reserve wine from vintages 2014 to 2019, this champagne combines youth and aromatic stability. Bottled in July 2021, it matured on lees for nearly four years before its disgorgement in June 2025. With a minimalist dosage of 1 gram as "Extra Brut", it fully releases the chalky minerality and the richness of its woodiness.

With its 12.5° alcohol and natural pedigree, it is a champagne for aging and contemplation, where the Oger chalk dialogues with the generosity of the wood, where mineral and fruity intertwine in a remarkable persistence. A wine for lovers of authenticity and terroir.
